Bournemouth : Daytrips
Even though there is plenty to see and do in Bournemouth, the surrounding area is also worth exploring and a good way to do this is by renting a car. Renting a car gives you the freedom to go where you choose. If there are four or five people in your party, a rented vehicle will help you to avoid the rather expensive train and bus ticket prices in the south of England.
Only a short drive west from Bournemouth will take you to Poole, a lovely picturesque town with a fantastic natural harbour. Continuing with natural beauty are the Purbecks which are ideal places to take walks along the coast. Around the area you will find numerous National Trust properties, often with elegant stately homes in the grounds.
Another popular daytrip from Bournemouth is Stonehenge, in Dorset. This is without doubt one of Britain’s greatest treasures dating back at least 5,000 years. Close to Stonehenge is the historic town of Salisbury with its cathedral, once the tallest building in the UK, which displays what remains of the Magna Carta. Visiting the medieval town of Salisbury provides an interesting contrast to Bournemouth with a distinctive difference in architecture style. |
